My sculptures celebrate the flexibility as well as the limitations of the ceramic material. I experiment with thread and clay and allow materials to change and transform with the ceramic process. My explorations with the ceramic materials challenges the traditional norms of how ceramic is typically handled and opens new possibilities of using clay as a medium.

A deep dive into Anagama firings would grow my practice and expand my knowledge on atmospheric kiln firings cross-culturally. This residency would be an opportunity for me to explore not only the unique ceramics in rural Japan but an opportunity for me to connect my cultural identities with my passion for ceramics.
