My name is Zeapoe Matalda and I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in Moorhead, MN. My primary artistic mediums are music composition, filmmaking, and literature in addition to various styles of dance. I am the first-generation of my family to be born in America, and my parents are immigrants from the West African nation of Liberia. My world view has been significantly impacted by my heritage, which includes celebrating life, valuing tradition, and loving who I am and where I come from. I was raised in a vibrant West African community, where music and dance surrounded me on a regular basis. My mission as an artist is to engage with a multitude of cultures that will allow me to expand my musical knowledge, and grow as a global citizen who advocates for social justice and inclusion.
