Screen Print/Paper

Jördis Hirsch works as a freelance artist with a focus on screen printing in Berlin. After studying ethnology and graphic arts in Marburg and Paris, she has been running workshops, exhibitions and art projects at Kunstverein STATTLAB e.V. since 2015 and is a founder of the anarchoPvnk feminist artist collective NACKT. She has received scholarships for artist residency programs in France, Italy, Tanzania, Mexico and Peru. Her illustrations have been published in various Berlin newspapers such as Junge Welt, Taz and TipBerlin. As poster art on advertising pillars, her prints support the idea of the street as a public gallery.
She specializes in the graphic depiction of people and animals in a reduced, archaic style. Subtle humor and socially critical comments are placed in the context of gender-specific role models and hierarchical structures. She works mostly analog, using materials from her immediate surroundings which she incorporates into the printing process.
