Lucy Loewenberg (b. 1994, Sag Harbor, NY) is an artist and ceramicist based in London. She works primarily with hand-built ceramics, creating sculptural vessels, lamps, and candleholders using the slow and deliberate process of coil-building.

Her practice focuses on objects that sit in the space between sculptural and functional, shaped through an intuitive, material-led process. Drawing from nature, folklore, and spiritual traditions, her work reflects an interest in balance and the quiet accumulation of form through repetition. Paying close attention to the clay’s natural limits, each piece is made as a singular object, with patience, care, and restraint.

If selected for this residency, I would use the time and space to fully immerse myself in my ceramic practice and in the experience of living and working in Onishi. I intend to continue developing hand-built sculptural works in my established way of working, while allowing the context of the residency to meaningfully expand my practice.

My goal during the residency would be to develop a cohesive body of sculptural work that reflects both my existing practice but also work thet has a clear evolution shaped by place, material, and exchange- capturing something enduring from a moment of transition.

ルーシー・ローベンバーグ（1994年、ニューヨーク州サグハーバー生まれ）は、ロンドンを拠点に活動するアーティスト／陶芸家です。主に手びねりによる陶芸作品を制作し、コイル技法によるゆっくりとした丁寧なプロセスを通して、彫刻的な器やランプ、キャンドルホルダーを制作しています。

彼女の手法は、彫刻と機能のあいだに位置する物に焦点を当て、直感と素材に導かれるプロセスによって形づくられています。自然や民族学、精神的伝統から着想を得た作品は、バランスへの関心と、反復によって静かにかたちが積み重なっていく感覚を映し出しています。土という素材が持つ固有の制限と丁寧に向き合いながら生まれる一つの一つの作品は、忍耐と配慮、そして節度をもって制作される唯一無二の存在です。

当レジデンスに選出された場合、この時間と環境を活かし、陶芸の実践と鬼石での生活・制作の体験に深く没入したいと考えています。これまでの手びねりによる立体作品の制作を継続しつつ、この滞在という文脈が、自身の表現を有機的に広げていくことを大切にしたいと思っています。

滞在中の目標は、これまでの実践を反映しながらも、場所や素材、人との関わりによって明確な変化と発展が感じられる立体作品群を制作すことです。移ろいゆく時間の中から持続する何かをすくい取るような作品を目指しています。
