Jeong-won Huh (Irene) is graduated from California College of the Arts, received Bachelors of Fine Art in Jewelry & Metal Art, in 2014. After School, She had multiple group show in USA, Italy, and South Korea. She lives in Seoul, South Korea, working as independent artist.

武蔵野美術大学大学院の油絵学科を卒業しました。 群馬県で18歳まですごし、今は東京世田谷に住んでいます。美術館、小学校や地域のイベントで子ども向けのワークショップをやっています。

Artist in Residence: Teri Dryden

Teri Dryden studied theatre arts at Towson University in Baltimore, MD before finding her passion for painting. Since then, she has participated in many workshops and has shown work in numerous solo, group and juried exhibitions across America. She is proud to be a full time artist practicing her work daily in her studio in Louisville, Kentucky.

Artist in Residence: Niek Peters

Niek obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2015 after graduating from the Ceramics Department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Since his graduation Niek has been working as an independent artist in Amsterdam, where he has his own ceramic workshop.

Artist in Residence: Marie Va Praag

Marie Van Praag has a Master in both Printmaking and Graphic design (Ghent, Royal School of Fine Arts). She is working as an art teacher (Art school, secondary school, adult education) and artist in Antwerp, Belgium. She has been an artist resident in Italy, Spain, Belgium and Portugal.

Artist in Residence: Jeanie Ho

Jeanie Ho graduated in 2017 with a Master in Contemporary Art at Sydney College of the Arts. Her practice is a devotion to time as she traces out chases of fine lines drawing up mundane happenings in quotidian living. She has a vast interest in different culture of everyday life.

Artist in Residence: Indra Fonseca

Indra is a Neuroengineering graduate, working as a Japanese translator, but has a natural inclination towards illustration and writing. She has been studying by her own watercolor and ink for the past 3 years and admires artists from the golden age of illustration.

Charlotte Clermont holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University. She is a video artist and works as a coordinator for philanthropic development and sponsorships at artists-run centre Videographe, in Montreal. She has participated at Studio Kura's residency in Fukuoka, Japan and Fusion Gallery in Torino, Italy.

Artist in Residence: Mark Russell

Mark received a Diploma of Graphic Design in 2001. Since then I have worked as an illustrator on a range of material, including Animation, Children's books, Games, Concept art and more. In his free time he likes to keep himself busy developing his own Art projects.

Artist in Residence: Lena Klett

My work investigates the role of a perceived sense of place through a formal abstract language of cuts, lines, and ambiguous marks. I work in drawing, performance, sculpture, and collected GPS data and objects to pull from themes of constructed memory, ritual, and personal mythologies. While in residence at Shiro Oni, I intend to create a series of works based on walks I plan on taking in the area surrounding the studios and town. It is my hope that these walks will become collaborative events, done with other residents at the Studios, and thereby creating a collaborative final product. shiro oni studio kjell hahn

Artist in Residence: Eloise White

Eloise White graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in Printmedia and Drawing, and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance, from the Australian National University in 2017. White moved back to Sydney to continue her artist pracitce and recently exhibition at the inaugrial opening of Sugar Glider Gallery. White is currently working on artworks for two upcoming exhibitions at the Down Under Space, Sydney, and at Darren Knight Gallery, Sydney. shiro oni studio kjell hahn

Artist in Reidence: Kerryn Levy

Kerryn graduated from the University of South Australia with a bachelor of Visual Arts, specialising in ceramics in 2014. After graduating, Kerryn spent time travelling and working in Canada, where she joined a ceramics studio and continued to develop her practice. Artist in Residence: Winslow Funaki

E. Winslow Funaki received a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2015 where she also completed a concentration in art history. After school she lived in Brooklyn, New York as an independent artist and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture during the summer of 2016. She is currently an MFA candidate in furniture design at RISD.

Artist in Residence: Stacey Gross

Stacey Gross has a BFA and MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois with a studio emphasis in photography and has taught art at Centennial High School in Champaign, IL for 24 years. She has traveled to Japan on study tours in 2006, 2008 and 2013, fueling a life-long interest in Japanese art and culture. Stacey balances work as a full-time educator and practicing artist, working primarly in camera-less photography. kjell hahn shiro oni

Artist in Residence: Tiernan Cross

Tiernan is completing his PhD on full scholarship at The University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, focusing on experimental sound-arts, human interaction and post-biological music composition. Trained at the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School and the University of Sydney's School of Architecture, Tiernan has exhibited music in Beijing, France and Berlin, won the Best Original Score at the 2015 St Kilda International Film Festival and in 2014 was the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the distinguished Australian Council for the Arts. Artist in Residence: Leslie Friedman

Leslie Friedman received her Bachelors of Arts at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in political science and her Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA. In between, she lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina for two years. Currently, Friedman is an assistant professor of printmaking at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, USA, and is a contributor and collaborator in many artist-run initiatives such as being a member of Good Children in New Orleans and the founder of NAPOLEON in Philadelphia.

Artist in Residence: Sudabeh Kian

I, Sudabeh Kian, have an Associate Diploma of Fine Arts and a Bacherlor's Degree in Creative Arts. In both cases I majored in printmaking, with some focus on drawing, textiles and photograhy. I practiced as a deep tissue massage therapist for many years. I am currently teaching English fulltime at a kindergarten in southern Thailand. I want to emmerse myself fully in art.

Artist in Residence: Heidi Nguyen

Shiro Oni Studio Heidi Nguyen received a diploma of Art and graphic design from Atelier Penninghen and Ecole National of applied arts, Paris. She worked as a graphic designer and artistique dirctor for 10 years (Paris) and moved to Ireland in 1996 to change career. She live and work as a painter and printmaker from self build studio in County Donegal (north west of ireland.)

Colin Christy is a fine artist and designer who received his Bachelors of Fine Art in Sculpture at Washington University in St. Louis in 2008, He has lived and taveled all over the world, and currently lives in Oakland, California. He has exhibited internationally in Vietnam and Italy, and nationally across the USA. In 2015, he started a successful furniture design company called Hapa Inaba Designs, and is currently pursuing his MFA in Industrial Design at California College of the Arts. Shiro Oni Studio Onishi

Kiley Brandt is currently a graduate student at Florida State University seeking her Masters of Fine Art. She received a Bachelors of Fine Art and Art History from Elon University as well as minors in Women and Gender Studies and Psychology. Her work is focused on immigration and identity.

Motoe Kawashima graduated from Takarazuka Bungei University of Arts and Sciences. She began painting after a stay in Spain in 2007. Now, Motoe works on creative activities while also doing work at a Shinto Shrine.

Artist in Residence: Meir Rakocz

Meir Rakocs has an academic education in Hospital & Pediatric Dentistry, Health Administration, and Medical Risk Management, and his artistic education is autodidactic. He has had a photography studio for the last 16 years and solo and group exhibitions in museums, galleries in Israel, Italy ,India, France, USA and Germany.

Artist in Residence: Rita Leppiniemi

Rita Leppiniemi has a master of fine arts degree (and bachelor of fine art degree) in new media from the Fine Arts Academy in Finland and Norway in computer-, video- and photographic art). Today she prefers to work in whatever material or media that can tell her story (or idea) to others in the best way. In recent years she has become more and more interested in environmental topics and politics.

Artist in Residence: Miriam Salamander

Miriam Salamander received her Bachelor of Fine Art with the specialism of printmaking at the University of Brighton in 2013. Since then she has been living and working as an independent artist in Munich, from which she has gone off onto several AIR programmes across Europe. In 2016 she founded the etching studio `Druckgrafisches Atelier`, where she teaches various printmaking techniques and curates exhibitions in cooperation with other artists.
